The Witcher 4 – Everything we know so far about the next epic RPG - Swords and more

CD Projekt Red is working full speed on The Witcher 4. With Ciri as the main character, cutting-edge Unreal Engine 5 technology, and a brand-new setting, fans can expect an unforgettable adventure. Here’s what we know so far.

Following the global success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015), fans have been eagerly awaiting the next big entry. CD Projekt Red has now confirmed that The Witcher 4 is officially in full production and will be the start of an entirely new AAA RPG trilogy.

Ciri takes the lead

This time, Ciri will be the main protagonist. After surviving the “Trial of the Grasses,” she has become a powerful Witcher in her own right. Geralt will appear too but won’t be the main focus. Player choices are said to have more weight, with expanded combat options, new monsters, magic, and the return of features like Gwent and romance options.

Unreal Engine 5 & stunning visuals

For the first time, CD Projekt Red is using Unreal Engine 5. A tech demo shown at the State of Unreal 2025 featured the region of Kovir and the port city of Valdrest – teeming with life, dense crowds, and incredible graphical fidelity. While not actual gameplay, it showcases the level of detail fans can expect.

Release & platforms

The game is not expected before 2027 and will release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
