A new chapter in the epic history of Westeros is about to unfold! The first official trailer for "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" has been released, revealing the highly anticipated premiere date: The series will debut on January 18, 2026, on HBO and Max.
Set approximately 100 years before the events of "Game of Thrones," the prequel brings George R.R. Martin's beloved "Dunk & Egg" novellas to life. It centers on the adventures of the young, naive but courageous hedge knight Ser Duncan the Tall (played by Peter Claffey) and his diminutive squire, Aegon V Targaryen, better known as Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell).
The trailer, which debuted at New York Comic Con, offers a first glimpse of the chivalry, tournaments, and challenges that await Dunk and Egg on their journey through Westeros. The creators promise a series with a different, more grounded tone than its predecessors, focusing on the perspective of the "lower" echelons of society and less on magic – yet still full of great destinies and dangerous exploits. The first season will consist of six episodes, each approximately 30 minutes long.
While we await the beginning of this new saga, fans can shorten the wait by adding the legendary blades from the original "Game of Thrones" epic to their collection.
